The World of Tandoria
Tandoria is a living world of glowing forests, bustling fairy markets and towering Eldertrees whose roots remember everything. It is gentle and warm one moment, full of whispers and shadows the next.
This is the place Toothens calls home – a land held together by the Crystal of Light, where every choice sends a shimmer of magic through the trees.
A Land Shaped by the Crystal of Light
At the heart of Tandoria lies the Crystal of Light. For centuries, its quiet glow has flowed out through the roots of the Eldertrees, keeping forests bright, streams clear and villages safe.
When that light begins to dim, the whole world feels it – in darker skies, restless winds and strange new shadows along once-familiar paths.
Eldertree Forests
Ancient groves where the trees hum softly with old magic and memory.
Villages & Markets
Warm lights, fluttering wings and rumours trading hands faster than coins.
Shadowed Lands
Regions where Diablos’ influence twists trunks, cracks earth and steals colour.
The Eldertrees
The Eldertrees are Tandoria’s oldest guardians – vast trunks carved with glowing runes, branches that seem to hold up the sky. Their roots curl around homes, rivers and hidden doorways, listening to the thoughts and fears of everyone who lives nearby.
Toothens grows up at the base of one such tree. Its soft hum is the rhythm of her days. When the Crystal’s light begins to falter, the Eldertrees are the first to shiver in warning.
Living Memory
Runes along their bark remember ancient promises, forgotten mistakes and acts of courage that still echo through Tandoria.
Silent Warnings
As Diablos stirs, those same runes flicker and dim, and leaves rustle with a worry that no one can quite put into words.
The Whispering Woods
The forest around Toothens’ home is known as the Whispering Woods. Here, the wind doesn’t just move branches – it carries fragments of conversations, warnings and half-remembered stories told beneath the trees.
Paths seem to shift when no one is looking. Fireflies gather in places that feel important, even if no one knows why. For Toothens, Raton and Pip, these woods are both a playground and the first step into the unknown.
The Enchanted Stream
Deep within the woods runs a quiet stream that bends light in strange ways. With a gentle touch, Toothens can coax tiny rainbows from the water’s surface, turning drops into arcs of colour that make the forest feel like it’s smiling back at her.
Runes of the Eldertrees
Not every message in Tandoria is spoken aloud. Some are carved into bark, glowing softly whenever the Crystal’s power brushes past. These runes are older than any villager – and yet they always seem to understand exactly who is reading them.
As Toothens travels further from home, she begins to recognise the same symbols in unexpected places: in quiet clearings, on forgotten stones, and even at the edges of Diablos’ domain.
The runes don’t just point out a path. They hint at why the light is fading – and what might be needed to wake it again.
Cabins at the Edge of the World
Not every home in Tandoria feels safe. Bean Nighe’s cabin is tucked into a hillside, wrapped in roots and lit by lanterns with blue-green flames. Charms hang from branches outside, chiming softly whenever visitors draw near.
Places like this sit on the edge of things – between safety and danger, kindness and warning. Toothens never quite knows whether she is being helped, tested, or gently pushed towards a truth she isn’t ready to face.
- Hill-side cabins that creak with more than just old wood.
- Hidden shrines where the Crystal’s light pauses before slipping back underground.
- Forgotten doorways in tree trunks and stones that open only for those who truly need them.
A World Between Light and Shadow
Tandoria changes with every choice Toothens and her friends make. Forests grow darker as Diablos’ influence spreads. Streams lose their sparkle. Villages fall quiet as rumours turn into fear.
But every act of kindness sends a spark of light back through the roots of the Eldertrees and towards the Crystal at the world’s core – a reminder that even in the deepest shadow, the world is still capable of remembering the light.
