Meet the Characters of Toothens’ Tale
Tandoria is filled with brave hearts, playful tricksters and shadows that aren’t always what they seem. Here are the friends, guardians, and foes who shape Toothens’ journey toward the Crystal of Light.
Toothens, Raton & Pip
Every great adventure begins with a small step and a small group of friends. Toothens, Raton, and Pip carry the emotional heart of the story, each bringing their own courage, fears, and hidden strengths to the path ahead.
Toothens
A wingless fairy with a heart brighter than any crystal.
Born without wings in a land where everyone else can fly, Toothens has grown used to being overlooked. Yet the ancient Eldertrees see something in her that others cannot.
As runes glow beneath her fingertips and the forest begins to whisper her name, she must learn to trust her own light while facing frightening creatures, impossible choices, and the truth behind the Crystal of Light.
Raton
A sharp-tongued fox who hides his worries behind a grin.
Raton loves quick jokes, clever shortcuts, and plans that sound a little bit dangerous. It’s easier to laugh things off than admit how scared he really is.
Beneath the mischief, though, Raton carries secrets and scars he rarely lets anyone see. On the road with Toothens and Pip he must decide who he really is: the shadow others expect, or the guardian he chooses to become.
Pip
The smallest, bravest heart in all of Tandoria.
Pip is a gentle hedgehog who believes even the tiniest creature can make a difference. His satchel is stuffed with berries, buttons, and little acts of courage.
Where others see danger, Pip often sees wonder first. His kindness and curiosity become a compass for the group—reminding Toothens and Raton that hope is a kind of magic all its own.
Guardians, Witches & Watchers
Tandoria is watched over by more than kings and queens. Old magic walks its forests—some wrapped in kindness, some in riddles, and some trapped forever between the light and the dark. Toothens must decide which voices to trust.
Bean Nighe
Witch of the wandering paths, where warnings sound like stories.
Bean Nighe is older than most of the tales told about her. With wild silver hair, a basket full of herbs and a lantern that never quite goes out, she moves through the forest like a rumour made real.
To some she is a witch, to others a healer, and to a very few she is a guardian who nudges fate back into place. Her words are rarely straightforward, but when Toothens listens closely, she finds gentle wisdom woven between the cackles and riddles.
Imoogi & Domovoi
The patient forest serpent and the woodland trickster.
Imoogi coils through the deepest parts of the forest like a river given scales and breath. Ancient, calm, and impossibly wise, he sees the threads that bind Tandoria together and knows how easily they could snap.
Beside him stands Domovoi, all mossy beard and muddy feet. A natural prankster, he loves small tricks, tall stories and testing visitors with playful illusions and riddles that hide real truths.
Together, they guard secrets that have been rooted in Tandoria’s soil since long before Toothens was born.
Lyris
The fallen elf bound forever to the Glimmerbrook.
Once a bright elf who followed Diablos too far, Lyris now exists in the in-between—caught between the pull of the Crystal’s light and the shadow of his influence. Her body is more mist than flesh, and her eyes carry both sorrow and warning.
Lyris guards the bridge at the Glimmerbrook, where water mirrors truth. There she tests those who cross with visions of what was, what is, and what might be. To some she is terrifying, to others heartbreakingly sad—but to those who truly listen, she becomes a guide who protects truth when lies would be easier to believe.
These are the voices of the ancient forest: guides, tricksters and watchers at the edge of the path, each nudging Toothens toward the person she is meant to become.
Tannfe & Diablos
Not all power in Tandoria is gentle. Some burns too brightly, some grows out of pain, and some is twisted by fear. Tannfe and Diablos stand on opposite sides of the same light.
Tannfe
The weary guardian who knows more than he ever says.
Tannfe is an old fairy with earth-stained boots, crumpled clothes and wings that have seen too many winters. He once carried the Crystal of Light himself and paid a heavy price for its power.
Now he walks quietly at the edges of Toothens’ journey, nudging her forward with half-truths, riddles and a humour that hides deep regret. He believes Toothens might succeed where he failed—but he also knows that asking a child to carry such a burden is a wound of its own.
Diablos
The boy on the thorned throne, bound to a dark crystal.
Diablos sits upon a throne of roots and thorns, a shard of corrupted crystal burning at his throat. To many he is nothing but a villain—a name whispered in fear when the forest grows too quiet.
But Toothens’ path uncovers something more complicated: a boy twisted by power, loneliness and choices forced upon him long before he understood them. Whether he will remain an enemy or become something else entirely depends on the light Toothens chooses to shine on him.
